From one street to another

 

HELL YEAH! We made it, both Carl & Jen got to episode 10 with no dramas (well not many). 

 

Season one is almost over. If Word on Our Street is not a mug of lockdown motivation, then nout will be. The pod has been rocking across the arts and attracting major talent and real-life stories from artists as humble ever.

Ok, here we go get ready for a bang because we are about to drop a name…..! A big name with a heart of gold crocheted together with a needle weaving in talent and inspiration. We had the chance to meet the lovely Melissa Johns http://www.bafta.org/supporting-talent/elevate/melissa-johns First seen on the Weatherfield cobbles in Coronation Street playing the character Imogen Pascoe she really is awesome. Melissa casually turned up to The Lowry Hotel

where we interviewed her in the most beautiful suite thank you to them for their hospitality and amazing biscuits! Melissa’s warrior spirit was instantly felt, so humble and funny she kept Jen and Carl entertained for a good couple of hours. 

 

Melissa has quite a few exciting projects on (understatement of the year) not only has she got her one-woman show at  https://thelowry.com  The Lowry coming up.  Jen was buzzing when she saw her starring in her new obsession ‘I Hate Suzie’ – do watch this it’s completely brilliant and we all love a bit of Billie Piper! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53949345 Well, Melissa now has a role in an up and coming BBC series ‘LIFE’ due to air in Autumn. OH MY GOD!

 

Our Melissa is so beautifully unique - she is a gorgeous actress and disability ambassador as she was born with one arm. Now, other than all of her talents you may have heard a few stories about her and one in particular. In 2018, her phone got hacked and intimate photographs were released, the way she handled this is the inspiration part for us. She turned it into a positive experience -wow! You can see with determination like this entwined with her talents why she is getting bagged for some fantastic roles.

 

We will not give any more of the interview away this girl took our breath away. We talked a lot… from acting, dating, to smear test results (at one-point Carl almost blushed ) it was an absolute honour to have her on.
